ABOUT JOYZEE

Joyzee Colorado is a visual artist, entrepreneur, and co-founder of Needle Z whose life has always revolved around creativity. A graduate of Fine Arts major in Visual Communication from Philippine Women's University in 2013, Joyzee knew from childhood that art would become her lifelong path. From joining school drawing and poster-making competitions at a young age to exploring different creative mediums, art became her language long before it became her career.

Originally drawn to fashion design, she eventually realized her true passion was broader than a single field—it was art itself. Over the years, she evolved into a multi-disciplinary artist, working across pencil, paint, mixed media, digital art, branding, and tattooing.

In 2013, Joyzee created the brand identity of D’Third Ink and Needle Z, laying the creative foundation of the studios alongside her husband and creative partner, Ricardo “Dado” David. Under Dado’s mentorship, she began practicing tattooing in 2015 and officially became a professional tattoo artist in 2017.

Today, Joyzee is known for her expressive approach to colored realism, anime, cartoon, and abstract-colored tattoos—styles that reflect her love for storytelling, emotion, and imagination. Her artistic journey has taken her to major local and international tattoo conventions, including the Dutdutan Tattoo Convention, Empire State Tattoo Expo in New York, Golden State Tattoo Expo in Los Angeles, and SLC Tattoo Expo in Utah.

Beyond tattooing, Joyzee dedicates much of her time to improving the systems and vision behind Needle Z. She continues to study entrepreneurship, business, and investments with the goal of creating a future where she can devote even more time to art, painting, and eventually writing her own book.

Deeply inspired by Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh, Joyzee believes art should connect people emotionally and honestly. One quote continues to guide her life and work:

“There is nothing more truly artistic than to love people.” — Vincent van Gogh

This quote continues to guide Joyzee’s life and art, because despite Van Gogh’s suffering from mental illness and pain caused by the people he loved, he still chose to believe in love.
